Ohioans looking to influence the state's selection of a new statue to be placed in the U.S. Capitol continued their push on Thursday [January 28, 2010], highlighting those who have already been considered and throwing several new names into the mix.
Members of the National Statuary Study Committee heard about a number of familiar historical figures, and some who are lesser known.
Among those promoted in testimony on Thursday were Olymic Champion Jesse Owens, deaf baseball pioneer Dummy Hoy, civil rights advocate and former Congressman William McCullouch and aviation pioneers Wilber and Orville Wright.
