Jerry works closely with University, local, state, and federal government officials and community leaders to enhance the financing and delivery of health care and the quality of educational opportunities for health science students at The Ohio State University. Responsibilities include strategic analysis of the external environment as it pertains to state, federal and local government relations; development of health care delivery, financing and education policies necessary to position the University Medical Center and Health Sciences Colleges in a changing marketplace; and develops and communicates the positions to local, state and federal legislative and executive branches.
He is currently an Adjunct Assistant Professor in The School of Public Health; a member of the Oversight Board of the Center for Health Outcomes, Policy and Evaluation Studies and an affiliate of the John Glenn Institute for Public Service and Public Policy. Jerry serves as Chairman of the Ohio Medical Care Advisory Committee, which provides policy guidance to the Ohio Medicaid program; and is active with the Association of American Medical Colleges Government Relations Steering Committee and is a member of the Project Medical Education Steering Committee. He recently completed a fellowship with the National Association of Public Hospitals and Health Systems.
He has been involved in government and community affairs since his undergraduate and law school days at OSU. He has previously served as President of the Ohio Children's Hospital Association; Legislative Counsel to the Ohio Department of Human Services; Chief of the Bureau of Medicaid Policy; and Counsel to the Ohio Senate Judiciary Committee.
He currently serves as a Trustee for the Brain Injury Association of Ohio, and St. Mark's Community Health Center Foundation.
